Nineveh Indiana
Nineveh, Indiana is a small township located in the metro area of Indianapolis in Johnson County. The unusual name is derived from a nearby creek, which, as legend has it, a man fell into and narrowly escaped drowning. The small community boasts a population of only about 4,000. Despite this, its close proximity to several national parks and outdoor attractions make it an appealing place for families to settle. Nineveh residents can enjoy the small-town atmosphere and, at the same time, take advantage of the very short drive times to some of Indiana’s most beautiful natural resources.
Allendale Camp, one of the finest in the Midwest, sits only a few miles from 
Nineveh. Housing a Christian Camp and Retreat Center, the grounds spread over 180 acres and can accommodate sizable groups for business, school, and religious retreats in addition to the large numbers of campers that arrive each summer. Group can book retreats and take advantage of the scenic beauty of the grounds all year round. Large, dorm-style facilities house the guests comfortably and a wide range of amenities are available, including a ropes course, a zipline, archery equipment, two lakes for boating, and a large pool complete with waterslides.
Another popular attraction for Indiana residents, Brown County State Park, is only about half an hour’s picturesque drive from Nineveh. Known for its lush forestry, abundance of winding trails, and large campgrounds, Brown County offers an affordable, scenic retreat from everyday life. In addition to the camping, swimming, and hiking opportunities of the park, nearby Nashville, Indiana houses many quaint shops filled with unique crafts and several small, charming eateries.
